Variation
To avoid the next Left turn across traffic: With the new construction, we've heard there's a bike path from the GWB sidewalk to "the River road". Haven't tried it yet, but most likely it starts with going south on the sidewalk along the east side of the Hudson Terrace road.

Variation C1
To ride a one-lane dirt road through the woods and visit a marsh alongside the Hudson River: turn R into Tallman State Park (after the long downhill and crossing Oak Tree Rd, across from golf club -- if reach Rockland Rd you missed it). Ride past gate onto dirt road -- starts East, later curves North, turns to pavement and goes down a hill to gate. Turn R onto one-way loop road (paved single-lane). Soon pass by other end of loop, continue to T on wider road. Turn R (East) on wider paved road then continue Straight thru an intersection onto a downhill (stay on the wide road, not the narrow path), which then curves L (North). Sharp R (South) to go past swimming pool to visit kiosk by Piermont Marsh with views across the River. Turn around back North and continue onto dirt path -- rejoin main route by the intersection of Piermont Ave and Paradise Ave. [these directions last checked in 2003]
