To stay close to the Hudson River: continue on Rt 9 North, then L on Rt 9J North, and rejoin the main route at the Dunn Memorial Bridge crossing in Albany. But you do not actually get to see much of the Hudson river, and we have found this much less interesting than the main route. |

to see some New York State office buildings and Empire State Plaza + get some food -- with a hill-climb and city traffic, though traffic is often not heavy on weekends: One route is: R (North) on Broadway, L on State St (up hill), BR becomes Washington St (west), L on Lark St (several food places), L on State St (east), down to Empire State Plaza on Right side in midst of downhill. Then continue East down hill, and at traffic light turn R on Pearl St (South) to rejoin main route. (or continue further East down to Broadway to Variation G) | |||
