Starting in Monroe

The paved rail trail starts northwest, but quickly curves west.  Then northwest again and goes under Route 17, then gradually curves west.

In about 4.75 miles, you reach the old Chester depot.  There are several places with food and drink a short walk from here.

Continue about 4.2 miles to Goshen.  Be careful when crossing several roads with cars and other motor vehicles on them.

Turn around and go back the way you came.

Starting in Chester

Some nice things about starting in Chester are:

From Chester you can choose to start off in either direction and then come back -- east 4.75 miles to Monroe, or west 4.2 miles to Goshen.  Then if you still have energy left you can try out the other direction.

Starting in Goshen

The paved rail trail starts south, then curves southeast.  Be careful when crossing several roads with cars and other motor vehicles on them.

In about 4.2 miles, come the old Chester depot.  There are several places with food and drink a short walk from here.

Continue another 4.75 miles to the end of the rail trail at the Park & Ride in Monroe.  (Just before the end there might be a way to get to the Museum Village at Smiths Clove.)

Turn around and go back the way you came.
