Bicycle Route 9 -- This path seems to get major damage from a big storm every few years, so some sections might not be ridable -- or safely passable by any means with a bike -- check Condition Reports. But continuing on Rt 9W through here has bad or no shoulders in an area of high speed traffic on curves -- though the vehicle lanes are reasonably wide. |

Variation G off-road path |
|
To
avoid Rt 9W and take a quiet path:
If have wide tires and the track is dry, there is -- or was -- a
dirt path to Nyack. Turn Left
onto Riverside Ave (unsigned). The
road ends, and the route continues Straight south into the woods on a
paved path. Keep going
after the path turns to dirt, and later it drops down right next to the
river. Note: This path seems to get major damage from a big storm every few years, so some sections might not be ridable -- or safely passable by any means with a bike -- and sometimes it has been marked Closed -- check Condition Reports page. When the path reaches the road at Nyack Beach State Park, continue Straight up the hill onto Broadway and continue South to rejoin the main route. |
