Variation Walkway

  to use Walkway over the Hudson [www.walkway.org] to cross Hudson River -- wider path, quieter, but connecting streets have more distance + motor traffic. For more info + map see the route Mid-Hudson Bridge / Walkway loop. Here's the basic idea . . .

 

      After 0.5 mile on Haviland Rd, turn L onto driveway to Walkway, then about 1 mile on Walkway going east across River, then bear Right down asphalt path, turn L on Parker Av, soon R on Garden St, first R on Brookside for about 0.6 mile, then go Left and look for signs for Poughkeepsie train station.

Poughkeepsie train station -- Metro North and Amtrak.  Ticket office and main waiting room are up the stairs or elevator and across the tracks.  If you already have your ticket, check if the next train south to New York City is on the track right next to the parking lot.
