I skated north back to the city of Annecy on the bicycle path along the west side of the lake, which is mostly an abandoned railroad -- pretty gentle, and even has its own tunnel.

Lots of cyclists on this off-road paved bicycling path, also a few other skaters that day.

I climbed that mountain two days later, and skied down the other side [ see photos ]
