ride around the Lac d'Annecy - [map]

we started at the city of Annecy on the northwest corner of the lake
(actually these photos are from two years ago when we rode around the lake in the other direction. We liked it so much we did it again, but this time didn't want to stop to take pictures)

the Annecy lakefront is a pretty place even if you're not riding

the water of the Lac d'Annecy is "milky" blue because it is fed by snow carrying rock particles from the mountains

This bike path ("piste cyclable") runs all the way along the west side of Lac d'Annecy.

This bike path even has its own tunnel

To go around the east side of the lake, we ride on the road . . .

. . . all the way back to Annecy -- here's the river thru the old city

climb over Cormet de Roseland pass - [map]

Aiguille des Glaciers mountain, visible from main road from Bourg St Maurice city up the southeast side of the Cormet de Roselend pass. We started near this view, rode our tandem bike up and over the pass down to the lake on the northwest side. Then after a side-trip, we rode over the pass in the other direction back to our start.

Mont Blanc (snowy) and the Rocher du Vent (rocky) mountains beyond the Lac de Roselend, looking north, seen from the east side of the Col du Pre -- a smaller pass that we also climbed, as a side-trip from the northwest side of the Roselend pass
