This peak is a side trip from the Haute Route, and Ken had been wanting to climb it for a long time.

skiers climb Mont Blanc de Cheilon

Eight skiers climb the mountain.  The route goes up to the big icefall, then around it to the right, then cuts back left above it, and continues up and left to the skier's summit.

Prominent on the east horizon are the Dent Blanche and the Matterhorn.  The broad snow summit before them in between is the Pigne d'Arolla (3796m / 12450ft).  looking East to Dent Blanche and Matterhorn
Mont Collon

After we ski back down, then climb over the Pas des Chevres pass, we ski all the way down to the village of Arolla -- and find this view of Mont Collon (3637m / 11930ft), towering over the groomed cross-country ski tracks and the lower Arolla Glacier.
